Reformer sessions from under £17
Gears, straps, springs and pulleys! At first sight, the Pilates Reformer can be an intimidating looking piece of equipment. Despite the somewhat medieval name, the Reformer is actually an amazingly elegant machine. The Reformer provides finely tuned exercise resistance that allows one to work very precisely with alignment, core strength, and all of the Pilates exercise principles.
Who is suited to using it? Anyone! See what people say on our 'Who is it for?' page.
And have a look at all the benefits for athletes of using the reformer as a training tool.
Reformers are great for gentle rehab from back and knee surgeries, shoulder injuries and breast cancer as loading and positioning can be easily adjusted for comfort.
The crux is in the gliding platform on which one can sit, kneel, stand or lie on your front, back or side. The user pushes and pulls off the foot bar using the arms, legs, wrists and ankles to slide back and forth along the rails in a controlled manner while the tension in the springs gently works the muscles.
Specialist Pilates uses Balanced Body's Allegro Tower of Power system for ultimate programming flexiblity for clients. This incorporates the matwork repertoire, all reformer exercises, the half-trapeze workout and a moving carriage and cadillac combo.
We have two in our private studio to accomodate private sessions or semi-private classes (2 clients max). £40 per hour (£20 each for 2 students). Free parking. Classes bookable at any time subject to availability.
